Oct 2012      Councilmember James Tate and the Detroit City Council honor Mr. Raleigh Chambers, a wheelchair user,  with the Spirit of Detroit Award; for his bravery in saving his teenage neighbor  from an intruder, who tried to break into her home, while her mom was at work.  Despite Mr. Chambers physical ability, his strong Will would not allow him to do nothing less than take action.  Warriors on Wheels recognized Mr. Chambers by making him an Honorary Member of WOW.  God Bless you Mr. Chambers!

Warriors on Wheels of Metropolitan Detroit (W.O.W.), is a non-profit organization dedicated to; Preserving the Rights of People with Disabilities, by way of empowerment though advocacy and  education.  We emphasize the knowledge of the ADA and other laws.  Our mission is for our society to be "barrier free".  Working together, we can make a change in the lives of many.  We encourage all people, no matter what your physical challenge may be, to know their rights in every aspect of life,  and become an effective self-advocate.  We respectfully encourage  public venues to become ADA compliant and offer reasonable accommodations; which will increase your business and customer base.  We take pride in making progress without the process of litigation.   It is our vision that people with disabilities may live, work and play in a community where their independence is uncompromised; accessible housing, dependable transportation, "user friendly" establishments, employment, passible streets; all sensitive to our needs.  THIS IS THE LAW!
